If you had enough money to purchase a gas station/convenience store, would you buy one?

Yeah. Well I've got one to sell.

Been doing it for 30 years, family for 80 years. Your question is much like saying you have a car for sale, but with no other information. The answer is maybe, maybe not. You can always find a buyer at FAIR MARKET VALUE; meaning a willing buyer and seller. Maybe you just don't like that price. I have never turned down a project that I could not make a good profit on.

CaptDave2012, will you go back to being an aviator? You were a co-pilot, right? How come they wouldn't let you be a captain? Booze?

If you're asking the question of owning a gas station/convenience store to make money, then the answer would be no; not in today's competitive or cut-throat competitive business environment.

But if you're asking the same question and saying money is no object, that it's simply a matter of breaking even, then the answer, for an entirely different, nostalgic reason might be yes. If it were feasible (call it the "what I would do if I won the big lottery" response), then I would like to open a small full-service gas station, providing old-fashioned full service at the same price that the self-service stations charge. Comment, before you laugh: Until just a couple years ago, we had several such gas stations in my area. One closed because of road changes (meaning traffic no longer went by as it did in the past), and a second one closed after it was bought out (because it was a money maker in the middle of four other gas stations despite it being lower priced than the other stations; the station was branded as a major brand and when the signage, etc., changed, it was turned into a self-serve station, the logic being that "we can make even more money without the attendant spending his time checking the car. The now-branded station lasted less than a year and was again sold, unbranded, and turned back into an attendant available - at no extra cost - gas station.

Yep, full swervice, a friendly hello nice to see you attitude, pneumatic hose

no

i would have a private pump so i can buy the whole year when prices is low

you just have to keep the tank cool and other stuff to do it right and people that complain about problems seem to always not have the right set up for proper care of tanks and other equipment

there is a reason why gas stations have those roofs over the pumps - it shades the ground to make sure the lot is not heating up too much and passing that heat down to the tanks and to help protect the pump from weather damage
