Nickoli, referring to a Canadian gallon is really a moot point since gas hasn't been sold in Canadian (Imperial) gallons in Canada since the 70's. You might as well say that gas is $2.478 per "Nickoli Gallon" because there's just 2 liters in a "Nickoli Gallon". Since no Canadian gas station sells gas in "Nickoli Gallons" (as far as I know) or Imperial gallons, I don't see why so many people persist in talking about "Canadian Gallons". We sell gas in liters and the US sells it in US gallons (3.7854 ltrs). If we want to compare Canadian gas prices to American prices fairly, we either have to translate our price into US gallons or theirs into liters. Sorry for rambling on about this but it just annoys me sometimes.

Nickoli, that Canadian Gallon is definitely not the same gallon we use in the states. Over 4.5 liters sounds like an Imperial gallon, not a US gallon. When you adjust the units and factor in the currency exchange rate you're really only paying about $4.40/gal US. It's still more expensive than down here, but nowhere near as bad as you say.

NEW YORK (AP) — The price of gasoline has dropped to the lowest level in five months, giving drivers some relief ahead of the July 4 holiday.
The national average fell to around $3.40 per gallon on Tuesday. Gas is now below $3 in South Carolina and under $4 in every other state in the continental U.S.

For the last three months it has stayed at $1.239 a litre here in Swan River, Manitoba. At 4.54609 litres to a Canadian Gallon it is still a crazy price. That's $5.63 a gallon. Sure not the way to encourage tourism for the summer to Manitoba.

That's good, it has dropped at low as $2.98 here, however, that is a LOCAL FORUM POST! TELL YOUR FRIENDS ON GB IN FLORIDA, NOT IN THE ENTIRE USA & CANADA! PLEASE! * I could drive ALL THE WAY to Miami this weekend! But I better watch out for the stations in the $3.70's & I'd probably be just as happy home in MA or in SC where it's in the $2.70's! **** The whole 2 Countries don't need to know what's happening in just ONE City! That is what the MIAMI / Florida LOCAL FORUMS are for!

And gas is also $3.69 a gallon in Miami.
The original post, in the best of times would be obsolete in a day.

We pay higher in cali because we have the dreaded smog tax that gets added on and every summer we get some special blend required by law that is supposed to pollute less. I guess we're just lucky. SMH
