Better, in my opinion, that people take part in real discussion (as this is) than the one word, one number, just for fun posts for points only. Second, it's not that we're trying to govern the forum; we're not. What we're trying to do is remind people (especially new members) that by starting their topics in the appropriate (or at least "more appropriate") category, they're likely to get more and better responses. For example, it's fascinating how many people will complain about one specific gas station, located in a place most of have never heard of, and expect us to respond to "why is the manager so upset?" or why the gas station change it's price overnight. We don't know, most of us across the United States and Canada, but members reading the post in the local discussion category might be able to help answer the question. Better located topics get more and better responses, as do topics with more complete and understood titles; people will open what they're interested in (rather than a topic titled (and we've seen these numerous times): "Gas" "WTF" "Price at gas station on Rt 1". We're not forum police or forum monitors as much as trying to help each other, just as we're sure that's what you would do. And yes, sometimes we get a little pointed in our responses. Third, you're not ignorant. It's just that, to me at least, your question was ambiguous. But to respond to your "I've noted that I can earn 1 ticket a day, making a total of 7 in a week." You can earn just under 1 ticket a day; you can earn 975 points a day (from five gas price posts, five news items read, and five message posts). In addition you can earn 100 points per week for responding to the weekly poll. That's a total of 6,975 points a week, just under one ticket a day. (That doesn't take into consideration the one time 100 points for joining and the possible 1,200 points you can earn during your membership for referring new members to the website).Regarding "It was just dumb curiosity to see if eeking out an extra ticket at the end of the week was possible." Curiosity, yes, but not dumb, and an interesting question, but are you asking about a way to seek out an extra ticket at the end of the week on a regular basis, or in general, or on a one-time basis? Just asking for clarification in order that we can best answer your question.

So sorry if I seem ignorant. I've noted that I can earn 1 ticket a day, making a total of 7 in a week. It was just dumb curiosity to see if eeking out an extra ticket at the end of the week was possible. I scanned the topics and could not find a more appropriate place to pose the question. This category is for general talk about fuel, oil, gas stations, etc. Maybe I'm missing the question, but what do you mean by "Have you ever received..." Do you mean have any of us exchanged points for more than 7 tickets in a week? Or are you asing if the moderators have awarded people tickets? I would think that, as a long time member and contributor to Gas Buddy, that you would know that some people hold onto their points in order to "buy" more tickets in a given week in order to increase their odds of winning a gas card, whereas others buy as many tickets as they can each week, and yet others never buy tickets.
