Several months ago, my cousin decided to retire his 25 year old Chevrolet which had manual crank windows and a bench front seat. He was unable to find either in the cars he was interested in buying new. I've only seen one, a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt with manual crank windows. I found no car (not a truck or SUV) with front bench seats. Does anyone have either of these features in a new model car? If so, what is the make/model?

power windows, and power heated bucket seats.of course in the summer ,they are naturally heated, but in the winter its nice to have a warm seat to plop in.cant think of a new car that comes with a bench seat, most pickups are that60-40 bench bucket.you can still get hand crank windows in a bottom end stripped down pick up.

Titanic1985:
Well there is hope for your cousin.GM models that have the bench seat are Buick Lucerne,Impala,Cadillac DTS, all 2010 models but they are an option. As for standard equipment, Mercury Grand Marquis,Lincoln Town Car ofer bench seats. These also are 2010 models.
Since my vehicle was made in Mexico (VW) Manual Labor installed the crank version, for the windows.

Both my 1993 Nissan pickup, and my 2005 Toyota Corolla have crank windows. I like them, and found it hard to find a Corolla with crank windows. I have a bench seat in my Nissan truck.

No, I think every car out there has a center console shifter on it these days. Crank windows? My parents had cars back in the 70's that had power windows. I don't know what kind of car would have crank windows in it these days.

Hello yoududebc. I appreciate your post. My cousin, 72 years old, has always been a Chevrolet person (how can you beat his last vehicle, 26 years old in Pittsburgh with only minor problems). He has finalized his choice to a Ford Fusion.

One thing of note, and I am not joking, he and his sister go to Scottsdale, AZ every winter for three months and live in my late Uncle's house (they received it in his will). In the garage is an almost new 1968 Ford Galaxy. Every January, they go to Arizona and that vehicle always starts on the first try. I worked on it in 1969 when my Uncle and his wife came to visit and I was working in the garage. It is a beautiful car in mint condition. Come the first week in April, he will store it in the garage for 9 months. He will never bring it to the north because of the salt. Now you see why he wants a bench seat (the Ford has power windows). His sister is afraid to drive it because of its size -- yep, those were the days of the big cars!! Take care :-).

Best of luck to your cousin, Titanic 1985! Sounds like cranks are realistic, but the bench seats are out. I did a run-around through my underground parking lot and saw no benches, even on the pick-ups.

But wait!

There is a dealer locally who is importing ten-year-old vehicles from Japan, bringing them up to compliance with Canadian standards, and selling them locally. Apparently in Japan one has to get rid of one's car after ten years. These vehicles are usually right-hand drive and have all sorts of mirrors after-marketed on, and they include really tiny 800 and 900cc engined artifacts, including 4x4 pickups. Ever seen an 800cc 4x4 pickup? These Asian market imports all have cranks and benches.

How determined is your cousin?

Hello GBs. I sincerely want to thank you for all your posts. Even though I am familiar with many vehicles and different models, all 50+ responses have confirmed what I originally told my cousin in January. I've given him your input and he too conveys his thanks. He is reluctantly willing to accept what is now available. Many thanks :-).

There are still a few low optioned models that have manual crank windows, but front bench seats are tough to find these days.

You can still get a split bench seat in an Impala but not crank windows. Other than the very base pick-ups, I am not aware of any other vehicles with crank windows.

Part two of this is that my '89 Cutlass has a split bench with column shift but power windows; my '72 LTD and '71 Buick Lesabre both have bench seats and crank windows.
