In a 2pm EDT news conference, Enbridge Energy Partners announced that their 6A pipeline that had ruptured in Romeoville, IL had reopened as of 10am EDT.

According to company officials, refiners are again receiving oil from line 6A, as the restart process only takes a few hours. Company officials also disclosed that while line 6A had been closed, Enbridge was attempting to route oil supply though other pipelines to minimize disruptions.

Chicago spot prices fell 2-cents today as traders focused on the likely restart, bringing prices in that area to a 7-cent premium to NYMEX and Gulf prices- a huge drop to last week's 30+ cent premium to other areas.

In a surprising move, Group 3 spot prices (North/Mid America)...

The prospective price drop is good news in this area hit hard by unemployment and under-employment. It's a shame if Enbridge were incorrectly blamed for the pipe rupture, but that begs the question of why it took them so long to report it? And why was it a utility inspector who discovered it onsite instead of an Enbridge investigator?

Reduction in retail prices are always much smaller and slower coming than when wholesale prices rise - then BANG, right up they go. We should be used to that fact by now. I only hope that one day WE WILL BE ABLE TO TURN ON THEM and give them the shaft.

Pump prices shouldn't have risen in the first place because there was no loss of oil delivery or volume of oil delivered.

It will take time for this to go to work and cause prices to fall to really be noticed. Here the price is still one the climb.

This just goes to prove that there was no reason whatsoever for gasoline prices to jump up by .20-.30 cents per gallon. They just used this leak to their advantage as an excuse to raise the prices at the pumps and steal even more from the consumers. This whole industry should be highly investigated and someone needs to be prosecuted for atrosities such as this.
