What could be so pressing that you would want to risk your life or the life of others to say. What is wrong with waiting 5 or 10 minutes. Better yet pull over and text. I have never done it nor would I. I value life a bit more than trivial chit chat.

It didn't work very well. The voice transcription in modern smartphones is very good but actually activating the feature required more keypresses that I'd feel comfortable doing behind the wheel again. The voice dictation feature also stayed on and continued to record speech even after I sent the message, so after I said "no bad weather here, thanks for thinking of me," the next message was mangled with my passengers voices: "so I'll e-mail you when I get OH MY GOD YOU GOT ONE OF THEM TALKY PHONES THAT LISTENS TO YOU would you shut up I'm trying to dictate to this thing SHOW ME HOW IT WORKS THAT'S SO COOL would you be quiet you're messing it up! WATCH THE ROAD, DUDE!" ROFL.
